1. The New Mayflower: Living In a World With No New Continents to Which We Can Flee

Believing the Gospel concerning Jesus Christ is the New Noah’s Ark of our salvation. But God has saved us to do good works. Living under the Lordship of Christ is the New Mayflower Strategy. How do we do this? By managing our own household as an embassy of the kingdom of God. No need to flee to some far off continent. Just stay home and start living in the world without being of the world. Shine as a light in the midst of the darkness of your community. In the New Mayflower, you don’t have to lose your marriage to divorce or your kids to a foolish youth culture. You don’t have to sacrifice your family or your health for a job. You don’t have to just stand by and endure the false gospel of a wayward local church or the corruption of an intrusive government. You get to be used by God to reform them all by the goodness and the wisdom of God! You are the salt of the earth! So, climb aboard the New Mayflower for a voyage through all the storms of life in this world. This is a voyage that will take you all the way home, and ultimately, all the way to heaven.

2. What Do You Have In Your House?: A Historical Overview of the Household

Elijah once asked this question of a widow whose sons were about to be taken away into slavery (2 Kings 4:1-7).  She was desperate. But God knew that she had more than enough in her house to meet her need. All she had to do was look again with eyes of faith and start making more of what God had already provided. So, what are you desperate about? Improving your marriage? Education? Finances? Health care? Ministry? Politics? “What do YOU have in YOUR house?” You will be amazed at what God has already provided for you.

Saturday 8:30 A.M. to 5:30 P.M.

3. The Seasons of a Life Well Lived: Growing Stronger Together Over Time

Time is God’s way of keeping everything from happening all at once. His wonderful plan for your life is unfolding slowly but surely, one season at a time. The harvest you are enjoying or enduring right now was probably planted over a decade ago. And what you are doing right now, for better or for worse, will probably come up as a harvest 15 to 20 years from now! Learn how to start doing the right things at the right times for the right reasons, first as an individual disciple, than as a productive householder (and wife), then as a faithful church leader (and wife) and ultimately as a loyal city father (and wife). Enjoy a wonderful harvest of God-glorifying fruit in all four Seasons of Life.

4. How to Stay Engaged With the One You Marry (for singles as well as married couples)

How can you meet and marry your life’s partner? And once you’ve courted and made your marriage vows how do you build your life together? How can you stay engaged? Somewhere along the way you will be tempted to drift away from one another as friends, lovers and parents. But it’s never too late to reengage. God will help you reengage. It will require you to repent of any selfishness and foolishness in the past. And you will have to start trusting God enough to actually obey Him. But you will be amazed at what happens when you start showing your love for God by the way you love one another. The results can completely restore the foundation of your marriage and your household.

5. Household Healthcare: A Small Dose of Common Sense

God has always been the true healer of all our diseases. And He often uses medical doctors to assist in the process. Did you know that people recover from over 90% of their illnesses with just a little good nutrition and a season of complete bed rest? It’s true. God has given our bodies the ability to heal most illnesses and injuries. That’s why placebos seem to “work.” It’s also why most all treatments eventually “work.” God normally heals with or without our help. That’s why the best doctors of the past were professional “good neighbors.” They were kind and wise enough to make house-calls, bind up wounds and pour in the oil and the wine of basic medical remedies. Then they put their patients to bed with a steady diet of good chicken soup until “nature takes its course” (i.e Until God healed the illness or injury). But the modern healthcare industry has become more and more intrusive, exploitative, greedy and corrupt. Faceless pharmaceutical companies, expanding government bureaucracies and heartless medical insurance corporations turn good doctors into agents, employees and sales reps, replacing their old fashioned good neighbor ethic with an assembly line approach that is better for the bottom line, but bad for the patient. Abortion, medicine abuse, medical rationing and even euthanasia are increasingly the results. So, what can we do about it? What do you have in your house? Oh, just a birthing room for your friendly neighborhood midwife? Just a sick room and a nutrition center for recuperative health care? Just an excellent elder care facility with a devoted team of caretakers? Just a sane and compassionate place for ethical hospice care at the end of life. Just all you need and more than enough to handle most medical needs. If you are a physician or alternative medical practitioner, this session could launch you into a new and better way to care for your patients. This session is close to my heart as my family lived this out successfully with my wife Sono’s passing in 2010.

12 to 1:00 P.M.  Lunch Break

6. Home Schooling: Delight-Directed Study All the Way Through High School

Home schooling is wise — all the way through high school! In fact, some of the best years are in high school. That’s when students normally begin to take charge of their own education. So, make delight-directed study a wonderful way of life for everyone in your family. Half the benefit of home schooling is in what you avoid by not having to deal with the majority of kids who don’t want to be there. But the other half is found in the superior boarding-school-style education you can provide so easily at home. Simply by harnessing the power of delight and the power of wise companionship in your home, your students can take off like rockets toward a brighter future.

7. Family Business: Doing Well for Yourself by Doing Good for Others

Your goal in family business should not be to become rich, but rather to become free to serve God, provide for your family and be generous toward others. Do you need start-up capital ? Try home banking. Do you need to diversify your sources of income, lower your monthly overhead, reduce your taxes and get out of debt? Try launching a small side-business that can employ all your children as part of their home schooling. It can pay for your entire home school and more.  Will your kids need to put themselves through college? Start a portable business that they can use to employ their fellow college students while they study. Do you have a starving artist or musician in your family? Help them launch a business that prospers by using their art to solve real problems and meet real needs in the marketplace. It’s still a free country. It’s full of opportunities. What are you waiting for?

8. The Household Embassy: Using Family-style Evangelism & Hospitality to Make A Little History in Your Own Home

Can anyone really live in the world without being of the world? Yes. Ambassadors do it all the time. They live in a country without being of that country. They are here as part of a mission to represent the country that sent them. They live in their own embassy and practice hospitality routinely so that others can experience their nation’s ways. Sound familiar? We are Ambassadors for Christ. Our homes are embassies of His kingdom. Being a “household of strength” allows us to live well anywhere God chooses to send us. Our family-style evangelism allows us to make acquaintances who then become friends who then become brothers and sisters in Christ. Our dual citizenship in heaven and our host nation allows us to found whatever new civic organizations and institutions are needed to be more effective as salt and light in our community. It’s called the Great Commission Lifestyle, and it’s the best way on earth to live.
